2014 EXHIBITIONS IN VENICE
LA BIENNALE DI VENEZIA: FUNDAMENTALS 14th INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE EXHIBITION “Fundamentals” consists of three interlocking exhibitions – Absorbing Modernity 1914-2014, Elements of Architecture and Monditalia – that together analyze the past, the present times and the future of Architecture. The exhibit aims at reconstructing the way architecture finds itself in its current situation, and speculate on its future. “Absorbing Modernity: 1914-2014″ is an invitation to the national pavilions to show, each in their own way, the process of the erasure of national characteristics in architecture in favor of the almost universal adoption of a single modern language and a single repertoire of typologies. “Elements of Architecture, in the Central Pavilion”, is focused on the development of the basic aspects of our buildings, through the centuries: façades, windows, walls, floors, stairs, ramps, roofs, balconies etc…. “Monditalia” is located at the Arsenale where Italian projects and drawings are on display, and the way architecture interacts with politics, economics, religion, technology, and industry. From June 7th through November, 23 Opening hours: h. 10 am – 7.00 pm, closed Mondays
